Impression

The lighthouse sequence is as thrilling as anything I’ve seen at the fest. Slightly frustrated by the final minutes, which feel out of character—for the heroine and the film—otherwise, this is some strong, confident filmmaking, like Tsai’s The River by way of Jean-Claude Carriere. Also, Esteban Bigliardi is typically well cast as the cuckish husband.
