Impression

After watching Iranian films for 30 years, it’s difficult to describe the experience of seeing images of middle-class Iranians being hot and horny and sensual and queer, smoking weed and kissing and dancing on balconies with exposed skin. Especially right now. It feels like a radical rejection not only of the regime but of a conservative cinematic tradition. The last act is stunning. I might be underrating this.
